For the decades we have known Gabbar Singh as a cruel Dacoit of Ramgarh, But this TVC will confuse you ,first it will make you think that it’s a dubbed version or an actual scene from a movie, but it’s not.
While infinite ads have been made on innumerable products and millions of products must have been sold by mimicking Gabbar Singh but no ad can get closer to this Britannia TVC where Gabbar himself endorses biscuits in his signature style and of course we love Kalia and Samba as well.
This ad was first played on Doordarshan way back in the late 1970s accompanied by the visual of Gabbar Singh holding up a pack of Britannia Glucose D like it was some hard-won trophy. (In fact, such was the appeal of that ad that when Doordarshan debuted the film on television, it used the ad instead of an introductory visual from the film.) And ever since, Indian advertising has had an abiding association with the Javed Akhtar-Salim Khan scripted and Ramesh Sippy directed Sholay.
